 Klimt choose the small town of Malcesine as the subject for what can arguably be called one of His greatest Masterpieces.

Bright colours and dramatic distinctions between the different buildings echo the fact that his views while on the lake were superb

Infact, this work is a notable departure from the more claustrophobic styles which tended to characterise his other paintings while in Austria
